Our Mission
We offer a wide variety of ways in which you may participate more fully as a member of our faith community.
Church is much more than a Sunday morning experience. Join a ministry to really get to know your church family, and to make serving the Lord a bigger part of your everyday life. God has equipped each of us with talents and gifts that He wants to use to expand his kingdom. Find out how you can be a blessing to your church and your community.
Our Ministries Groups and Organizations
Liturgy
Altar Servers: Altar Servers play an integral part in the Mass, assisting the priest reverently and prayerfully with the duties they have been assigned.
The Altar Server ministry is open to parish children in the 4th grade and above who have made their First Communion, attend Mass regularly, and are continuing their faith formation through religious education classes.
Training for new Altar Servers is provided in the fall and spring. Once the class has been completed, Altar Servers are scheduled for their requested Mass time. Opportunities are also available to those children who wish to serve at funerals, weddings and special Masses throughout the year.
If you are interested, please contact Mary Buenrostro maryb@strosecv.com
Ushers & Greeters: While today's ushers don't ring bells or open the church, their primary duties and responsibilities include greeting and welcoming parishioners as they enter the church, help them to find seats, taking up the collection and wishing everyone a good day at the conclusion of the Eucharistic Celebration.
“A liturgical function is also exercised by… [t]those who take up the collections in the church; [t]hose who, in some regions, welcome the faithful at the church doors, seat them appropriately, and marshal them in processions” (GIRM, no. 105c-d). As the priest and other ministers prepare for Mass in the sacristy, lay persons have a valuable role to play in welcoming their brothers and sisters to the church and ensuring that all have a place to sit. These apostolates are related to hospitality, an important aspect of the New Evangelization.
It is the perfect ministry for those who want to serve but do not have a lot of extra time.
You can perform your service during the Mass that you regularly attend. Ministers of Hospitality are usually assigned 1-2 times per month and asked to volunteer for Holiday Masses and Reconciliation Services.
